A high-level delegation of the Ethiopian Food and Drug Administration visits Cadila’s plant and office.
Ahmedabad, 20th June 2022: Drug major Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ new formulation development laboratory was inaugurated on Sunday, 19th June, by an Ethiopian government official during a high-level Ethiopian delegation’s visit to the company’s state-of-the-art plant in Dholka.
H E Dr Tizita Mulugeta Yimam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to India, inaugurated the formulation development laboratory along with Ms Heran Gerba, Director General of the Ethiopian Food and Drug Administration, Dr. HG Koshia, Gujarat’s FDCA commissioner, and other officials.
The ground floor of the formulation development laboratory is focused on solid orals, the first floor on injections, while the second floor houses the analytical lab.
“It is our honour to host Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta Yimam and other members of the Ethiopian delegation. Africa is our second home and we established Ethiopia’s first WHO-cGMP compliant plant in Addis Ababa, which has become an epicentre of multi-fold growth and development for Africa through enhanced investments. We look forward to further strengthening our relations with Ethiopia,” said Dr Rajiv Modi, CMD, Cadila Pharmaceuticals.
“It was an interesting visit to Cadila Pharma’s plant and office, and learn more about their work. Cadila has a plant in Ethiopia. We need to work closely to maintain the relationship and to support each other. Ethiopia offers great opportunities for drug companies and for Cadila Pharma to expand its facilities in Ethiopia,” said Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta Yimam
The delegation also visited Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ corporate campus at Bhat.
“The delegation noted and lauded Cadila Pharma’s role in supplying high-quality affordable medicines to patients in Ethiopia and other countries from its plant in Ethiopia, and assured all support and cooperation,” said Biswajit Mitra, Chief Mentoring Officer, Cadila Pharmaceuticals. FDCA Commissioner Dr Koshia interacted with the delegates and shared details about Gujarat’s significant contribution to the country’s pharma production.
“It was wonderful meeting the officials of Ethiopian Food and Drug Administration. I got an opportunity to learn many things about Ethiopia as a drug market,” he said.
The other members of the Ethiopian delegation included Dinayas Gemada Tola, Deputy Chief of Mission, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and three officials of the Ethiopian Food and Drug Administration. They include Yibeltal Abeje, Medicine & Registration Expert, Dejene Daba, Registration Expert, and Getu Bogale, Branch Head.
