From medical representative to leading the international pharma business at Cadila

Learning and determination can take one places, and one person who epitomizes this is Dr. Pramod Kumar Rajput of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, one of the oldest and largest privately held drug manufacturers in the country.

Dr. Rajput joined Cadila Pharmaceuticals way back in 1982 as one of the hundreds and thousands of medical representatives. But, he was determined that he would not be a medical representative forever. He had big dreams and he knew that constant learning and pushing himself to achieve greater things were the keys to making it big in life.

His endeavour to constant learning, up-skilling himself to keep pace with the changing times, gaining cross-functional experience, and passion to succeed over the last 40 years have helped him rise to the very top position in the same organisation.

Today, Dr. Rajput is the Senior Vice President and Vertical Head of Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ international business and oversees business in 25 countries spanning the globe. His key responsibilities include top line, bottom line, building teams, building brands, fulfilling supply chain requirements, new product introduction, new market avenues, training & development, and upgrading teams, among others for the giant conglomerate.

Dr. Rajput was a science graduate when he began his career with Cadila Pharmaceuticals, but he is now a PhD. In fact, he completed his PhD from Sikkim State University in October 2022 by publishing his research on “Global Vs. Local Marketing”. Prior to that, he completed his MBA in Marketing & Executive Leadership Development Program from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).

He is also the recipient of 11 honorary doctorates, has co-authored “The House of Wisdom” in which he has penned his experiences of learning & his biography “The journey continues – attitude wins” was released in August.
