Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ ThRabis vaccine wins Pharma Innovation of the Year Award

The novel three-dose rabies vaccine received the top honour at the India Pharma World Awards

Ahmedabad, 21^st December 24: Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ breakthrough three-dose rabies vaccine, ThRabis, has won the top honour at the prestigious India Pharma World Awards, warding off competition from formidable players in the pharma industry. ThRabis was named as the winner in the category “Pharma Innovation of the Year Award” in front of the who’s who of the Indian pharmaceutical industry.

Cadila Pharmaceuticals launched the ThRabis vaccine, a novel three-dose recombinant nanoparticle-based rabies G protein vaccine, in April last year. Other existing rabies vaccines require five injections spread over 28 days to complete the full regimen. Many animal bite victims are unable to complete the full course of the vaccine due to a complicated dosing schedule, frequent visits to the hospital or clinic, and potential loss of income because of the visits. This leaves many victims unprotected and susceptible to developing rabies. ThRabis, on the other hand, is a three-dose regimen vaccine, and a game-changer in the fight to eliminate rabies through a simpler and more convenient regimen.

The India Pharma World Awards are an initiative of The Economic Times aimed at recognising and acknowledging efforts of ground-breaking innovation. The awards celebrate the advancements and innovations of the pharma industry. The winners were selected by eminent juries.
