Cadila, on World Cancer Day today, organized an informative Cancer Awareness Session titled ‘I am and I will’ to recognize the urgent need to put in place measures to prevent the disease, raise awareness, and mobilise the fight against cancer.
To break the stigma on cancer, particularly in rural areas, Cadila invited Dr. Sanket Shah, renowned Consultant Oncologist and Bone marrow transplant physician at HOC-Vedanta, Ahmedabad. He spoke on the importance of early detection and treatment along with changes in lifestyle and food habits to prevent the deadly disease. Mr.Pravin Chaudhari, the Principal of S. L. Patel High School Bhat village, women from Bhat Health Centre and Anganwadi, and residents of Bhat were especially invited for the edifying session to ensure the message reaches every household. The entire Cadila team was seen wearing purple ribbons in support of cancer awareness.
Cancer cases are rising at an alarming rate worldwide. According to the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research (NICPR), there were around 7,84, 821 cancer-related deaths in India in the year 2018 alone. Moreover, 10 lakh new cancer cases diagnosed each year in India.
