Major Applications- Highlighting The Societal Impact

Potential Technology- Reduced dependency on global
player in the area of aromatic/hydrocarbon
extraction e.g. UOP, Shell, Lurgi, Krupp Koppers etc.

New units in hydrocarbon/oil
refineries/pharmaceutical industries will employ
engineers and shift operators hence will create
employment

Removal of benzene from any gasoline blending
stream- Benzene is highly carcinogenic

The technology is devoted for Production of valuable
petrochemicals like Benzene, Toluene, Xylene etc
from refinery or petrochemical feedstock

Main Applications

Aromatic Extraction

  • Extraction of Benzene, Toluene, xylene and other
    Hydrocarbons from Catalytic reformate and
    Pyrolysis naphtha
  • Production of food Grade Hexane for extraction
    of edible oils
  • Dearomatization of Kerosene for Aviation
    Turbine Fuel and Superior Kerosene
  • Production of gasoline, jet fuels and special
    Boiling point (SBP) solvents

Acid Gas Treatment

  • Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Dioxide,
    Carbon Oxysulfide, Carbon disulfide and
    mercaptans from sour gas streams
  • Recovery of sulfur Dioxide from dilute streams.
Sulfinol process for removal of acid gases utilizes
a mixture of Sulfolane and an amine.

Other Applications

  • Fractionation of fatty acidsinto saturated and unsaturated components.
  • Separation of lignin from cellulosic materials
  • Reaction solvent particularly, for the production of fluoro-aromatics by halogen exchange (HALEX) reaction
  • Emulsifier for photographic composition
  • Polymerization solvent
  • Curing agent for Epoxy resins
  • Polymer processing /textiles
  • Polymer plasticizer for Cellulose Acetate and polylactams
  • Solvent for Electronics and electrical applications.

Extractive Distillation

  • Separation of compounds with similar boiling
point e.g. butane and 2-butene,1-prooyl alcohol
    and 2-butyl alcohol.
